Joseph Zaritsky (1891 - 1985) was active/lived in Israel, Ukraine.  Joseph Zaritsky is known for Painting.

Joseph Zaritsky is considered one of the founding fathers of modern art in Israel and one of the greatest local artists, in 1959 he was awarded the Israel Prize for Painting. In 1923 Joseph Zaritsky immigrated to Israel, settled in Jerusalem and immediately began painting the landscapes around him, as well as other landscapes. A year later he had solo exhibitions shown in several places around the country, and he began gaining attention and appreciation.

In 1925 Zaritsky moved to Tel Aviv, where he continued to develop and refine both the technical aspect of painting and his personality as an artist, in particular he formulated a unique style. He painted the swiftly-growing city and its landscapes many times - and did so in a modern style based on wide color surfaces and a free brushstrokes.
