Mr. Weiler, a graduate of Syracuse University, School of Fine Arts, was head of the Art Department, Garden City High School, when Paul Brown introduced him to Eugene Connett (founder of Derrydale Press). As a dedicated sportsman, Weiler delighted in the skilled depiction of nature scenes he knew so well, and Connett was well pleased with the work of this talented artist.

Prior to his association with the Derrydale Press, Weiler had been an illustrator and occasional writer for such publications as Sports Afield, Life, and the Abercrombie and Fitch catalogues.
