Jens Fange was born in 1965 in Sweden. Fänge's art has gained ground on the international art scene in recent years and it is no coincidence that Frieze put his work from the latest exhibition at the Galerie Perrotin in Paris on the cover of his magazine during the week they stage one of the world's largest art fairs. In the suggestive paintings, Jens Fange uses terracotta, pink, pistachio and cream white, where the eerie dreamlike meets the whimsically playful. Loose fragments of things and bodies pass by in a surreal dance. Fänge uses motifs from his personal image archive and arranges and places them seemingly out of context. Like an oriental rug in a Renaissance painting, or the wallpaper in a work by Henri Martisse, he uses decorative interior elements to reflect a specific mood.
