Guglielmo Tato Sansoni

Guglielmo (Tato) Sansoni (1896 - 1974) was active/lived in Italy.  Guglielmo Tato Sansoni is known for Painting, sculptor, ceramist, set designer, futurist writer.

Guglielmo Sansoni, called Tato, was born in Bologna in 1896. He was one of the most eclectic artists of the futurist scene: painter, sculptor, ceramist, set designer, and futurist writer. Tato completed his studies at the Military Academy of Parma and learned the first rudiments of the ceramic art at the Minghetti factory in Bologna. In 1915 Tato left, as a volunteer officer for the front. During the war he published some drawings inspired by military life and made friends with Boccioni and Sironi, and later Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. At the end of the war he exhibited some of his ceramic works at the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Rome. Together with Leo Longanesi, Aldo Giovannini, Fanelli, Caviglioni and Federico Valli, he founded the 1st Futurist Group from Emilia which he later directed himself. In July 1919 he organized, at the Modernissimo Theater in Novara, an exhibition of futurist art in 1922 which he repeated in 1924.
