Joseph Gustave Chéret (1838-1894) was the son-in-law of the renowned sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887), following in his footsteps as the director of the Sèvres factory.

Chéret exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1863-1894 and at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts from 1891 until his death.  His works were posthumously exhibited at the École des Beaux-Arts. (cbo)
