Michael Freudenberg was born in 1949 in Dresden, Germany. He studied building construction in Cottbus from 1968-72 and was a self-taught painter. He became a member of the VBK of the GDR and collaborated with AR Penck and Klaus Hähner-Springmühl in 1978. He worked as a freelance artist from 1979 and also did architecture-related work until 1986.
