Werner Tubke

Werner Tubke (1929 - 2004) was active/lived in Germany.  Werner Tubke is known for Painting.

Werner Tübke began his artistic education at the School of Visual Arts in Leipzig, where he later became a professor and headmaster.  His main work is the 'Frankenhauser Bauernkriegspanorama' [Peasants’ War Panorama in Bad Frankenhausen], a round painting of 120 meter perimeter, which depicts around 3000 figures.  He also created a huge stage picture for Weber’s ‘Der Freischütz’ at the Staatsoper Bonn.

In addition, he painted numerous landscapes in watercolors.  Tübke left behind a comprehensive body of drawings and graphic works.  In 2006 was founded the ‘Tübke Stiftung Leipzig’.  Some of Tübke’s works are in collections of important museums, including the Nationalgalerie in Berlin, the Galerie Neue Meister in Dresden and the Städel Museum in Frankfurt.
