“Lenard Kester is one of the Southland’s outstanding artists. He works not only in oil but also in watercolor and other mediums. His paintings are a happy combination of the modern technique and understandable art. One feels the message he tries to portray in his painting. He is a national exhibitor of note and has won innumerable awards, not only here in Laguna Beach but throughout the United States. His painting ‘The Wedding’ was a prize winner in this years All California Show at the Festival of Arts. His work is on permanent exhibit at the Cowie Galleries in the Hotel Biltmore, Los Angeles, and he has a yearly one man show there.” (from August 1959 LBAA cat.) “Lenard Kester paints meaningful subjects, carefully designed and defined within the framework of his own memories.
