Lothar Fischer

Lothar Fischer (1933 - 2004) was active/lived in Germany.  Lothar Fischer is known for Sculpture.

 Lothar Fischer studied sculpture from 1953 to 1958 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Heinrich Kirchner.  ogether with Heimrad Prem, Helmut Sturm and HP Zimmer he founded the artists' group SPUR whose artistic conception was influenced by CoBrA, Art Brut and pop art. 

From 1975 to 1997 Fischer was a professor at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, in 1991 he became a member of the Bayrischen Akademie der Schönen Künste in Munich.

Throughout his career he received many awards and honors.  Fischer's work may be viewed in the Museum Lothar Fischer in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, which opened in 2004. (fea)
