Edward H Bennett

Edward H. Bennett (20th century) was active/lived in Illinois, New Mexico.  Edward Bennett is known for Architecture, landscape painting.

Primarily known for his architectural prominence in Chicago, Edward H. Bennett was also a painter, having studied in Paris at École des Beaux Arts where he earned a reputation for his skills, especially with watercolors.  After becoming established as an architect and semi-retired, he pursued his painting talents in the mid 1930s, when he and his family, became regular summer inhabitants until World War II, and built an adobe home at Ghost Ranch in the northwestern part of New Mexico. 

From Chicago, Edward Bennett had achieved international recognition for his development with Daniel Burnham of the Chicago Plan, which became the directive for the city's development beginning 1909 and became a model for growth of many other American cities such as Washington DC, Portland and Detroit.  The plan was unique because a main focus was improving socio-environmental conditions for city residents.  It included the straightening of the Chicago River, g   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 2934 characters.]  Artist bio
