Jeremy Lawrence Smith BA (1946)

A prominent Canadian painter, draftsman, and printmaker, Jeremy Smith was born in Louth, England; immigrated to Canada in 1948 (with his parents); and was raised in Toronto, Ontario. He currently lives and works in Kitchener, Ontario. His works are in the permanent collections of several major Canadian museums.

His mediums include egg tempera*, pastel, sumi-e ink*, graphite*, etching*, serigraph* and mixed mediums. His subjects include portraits, interiors, nudes, figures, landscapes, still life, genre*, sporting activities, animals, and urban views. His mature styles are Realism* and Photo Realism*. Smith is considered a self taught artist. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree, with studies in Fine Arts, Philosophy and French Literature, from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario (1966 - 1969).
