Cornelius Völker, a contemporary German artist, was born in Kronach in 1965.  When he was 24-years-old he decided to study art and enrolled in 1989 at the renowned Academy of Fine Arts in Dusseldorf.  His training end in 1995.  Soon after the young painter made a name for himself in the art world.

His works, the works on paper, show him in the first place as a painter who dominated paint and brush virtuosity.  In different style sheets between figuration and abstraction Cornelius Völker shows the banalities of everyday life: chocolate bars and ladies hairstyles, paving and guinea pigs, straws and tea bags.  With its picturesque talent, the power of his stroke and his eye for style of composition, it is possible Cornelius lifts even the most insignificant motif to the rank of a great work of art.
