Ji'an Jiang

Ji'an Jiang (Born 1967) is active/lives in China.  Jian Jiang is known for Painting, sculpture.

Jiang Ji'an was born in Yantai, Shandong province, in 1967.  In 1987 he graduated from the fine arts department of Shandong Normal University with a major in traditional Chinese painting.  In 1992, he earned a master's degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

He presently resides in Beijing.  Jiang Ji'an came to prominence in the Chinese contemporary art scene with the creation of his Two Rooms series in 2007-2009.  The unforgettable installation used light and shadow to transform an ordinary apartment interior into a scene of reality mixed with illusion.

These interiors paintings are the extension of Jiang's earlier practice of gongbi painting on silk, in which he often uses realistic depictions of objects with mixed media to express his distinctive artistic ideas.
