Mario Comensoli (1922 - 1993) was active/lived in Switzerland, Italy.  Mario Comensoli is known for Painting.

Mario Comensoli lived in an orphanage in Lugano until he was four years old, when he was taken in by two female employees of the institute. After leaving school, he eked out a living by doing odd jobs and selling tourist paintings. In 1943, after a landscape was purchased by the Museo Civico Lugano, he received the first of several scholarships from the Fondazione Torricelli, which enabled him to study art in Zurich. Between 1948 and 1953 he stayed in Paris several times and made the acquaintance of Joan Miró as well as Diego and Alberto Giacometti. In 1953 he had his first solo exhibition at the Helmhaus in Zurich. Since the late 1940s, socially critical approaches were evident in Comensoli's work; he described the lives of workers and immigrants, and later addressed capitalism and consumer society. Comensoli constantly reexamined current social currents.
